• Express Foods Group (Inernational) has merged its two listribution divisions to step up ts attack on the third-party emperature-controlled distribuion market.
Express Distribution and ganorcroft Chilled Distribution lave been combined to form :oldstream Distribution "be:ause both firms were competng in the same market," says :oldstream Distribution's narketing manager Melanie I;odfrey.
The new company has 800 ;taff. 600 vehicles and 18 sites around the UK: five former Manorcroft depots, 10 Express centres and three trunking centres. No job losses or depot closures resulting from the integration are anticipated, says Coldstream.
Both distribution firms already operate, on the Continent with twice-weekly group services to France and Belgium. Coldstream will also use existing distribution partners in Germany, Scandinavia, Denmark and Holland. "These services will strengthen Coldstream's position when competing for major contracts," says Godfrey. Coldstream aims to win BS5750 for its distribution operations. Express Foods Group's bulk farm fleet has already achieved this.
