• Renault Vehicle Industriel is to fit front-axle disc brakes as standard on all models.
Last year RV1's R420 was fitted with MKI1 Girling full-air disc brakes, to become the first tractor to be produced with discs as standard. Now RV1 is evaluating Girling's MKIII system, which offers a larger pad area and is expected to last as long as conventional drum-brake linings. Renault says that disc brakes are much easier and quicker to service, and give better cross-axle equalisation.
