• As predicted, (CM 26 October-1 November), AWD launches a major assault on the international construction market this month, with the launch of two powerful new tippers.
The off-road 38-tonne GVW TM 40 has a 25-tonne payload and will be available in 6x4 and 6x6 configurations. It is aimed at overseas markets where it is expected to compete with articulated tippers and rigid six and eight-wheelers.
Power comes from a Caterpillar 3406B air-to-air chargecooled diesel engine, developing 317kW (425hp) at 2,100rpm and 1,966Nra (1,4501b ft) of torque at 1,200rpm. The smaller 330613 Caterpillar is available as an option.
A Fuller RIO 14609A ninespeed rangechange gearbox comes as standard, but 16speed ZF 16S220 and Trans
matic gearboxes are available as options.

The M15-18 is aimed at civilian and military markets. It is powered by the 135kW (181hp) Perkins Phaser six-litre intercooled turbodiesel, driving through a Spicer T5C 4292 five-speed synchromesh gearbox and two-speed transfer box, which gives 4x2 high ratio and 4x4 high or low ratio drive options.
