LUNAR MODULE, the Luton minibus operator, has failed to block a National Bus Company subsidiary's plans to operate a rival minibus service in the town.
United Counties won the Eas,tern Traffic Commissioners' authority to run a circular service using standard 16-seater minibuses like those operated in Leicester, Exeter and Weston-super-Mare.
The service will run between 9am and 5.10pm on a five-minute frequency for most of the day. In lleart Hill and St Ann's i fill it will stop anywhere, elsewhere existing bus stops will be used.
Robert Dudley, a director of Lunar Module, said that in Exeter minibuses had replaced large buses.
Here, United Counties plans a completely new service competing for traffic with its own subsidised services as well as Lunar Module's frequent minibus service.
United Counties had an overall deficit on its Luton services.
