ALTERED fare stages, which were coupled with the introduction of higher fares by the Brighton, Hove and District Omnibus Co., Ltd., have caused resentment in the locality. air. H. W. St. John and Cllr. F. E. Winchester have tabled a motion, which was to be discussed by the council yesterday. as follows:—
"That the council order an immediate revision of the new scale of .bus fares instituted by the Brighton, Hove and District undertaking in view of the fact that the new alterations in fare stages have turned what might have been a seasonable increase in fares to an excessive imposition."
G.N.R. TO BE NATIONALIZED
THE Governments of Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic are jointly to acquire the Great Northern Railway; each is to pay an equal share of the priee.
It has been agreed that the fixed assets in each area should vest in the Government of that area. This does not apply to the Dundalk workshops. which, together with all other assets. will be transferred to a joint board of control.

THE number of C-licence vehicles in operation at .September, 1951; was 781,781, compared with 719,064 a year earlier. Thenumber of C-licence holders rose from 373,198 in Septemb, 1550, to 197,789 in September this year.
