at Vosa test stations will jump by 15% to 20% this year if proposed changes to its fee structure go ahead.
Under the proposals, outlined in a consultation on a range of fees for the 2013/14 financial year, test fees at Vosa premises would rise from £98 ex-VAT to £113 (up 15.3%) for a two-axle truck and from £123 to £145 (up 17.9%) for a three-axle unit. The move is intended to make authorised testing facilities (ATFs) more competitive with Vosa's own testing stations, which has been one of several areas of conflict outlined by the newly formed ATF Operators Association.
Charges to ATFs for testing are set to fall by 1% to 3%, leaving them at £92 for a two-axle truck and £115 for a three-axle unit. The consultation runs until 11 June.
