• Road Haulage Association vice-chairman Barry Hempsall will not be standing for re-election. This follows his withdrawal from haulage over a year ago to concentrate on his two MAN dealerships (CM 1-7 March 1990).
He has been one of the RHA's two vice-chairmen for three years but says that the change in his business means that he can no longer hold a senior RHA position.
0 The Freight Transport Association has elected Alec Lafone to a two-year term as president. He takes over from Tony Stanton.
Lafone is distribution manager for Glaxo Pharmaceuticals UK. As FTA president he plans to concentrate on environmental matters and ways of maximising the use of the transport network.
