• Daihatsu has launched an uprated range of Fourtrak Commercial 4x4 vehicles.
Detail changes include the addition of a charge-cooler to the 2,8-litre turbo-diesel engine, increasing power output to 75kW (100hp) at 3,400rpm and torque to an impressive 245Nm (1811bft) at 1,900rpm — down from 2,200rpm for the standard turbo model.
Other changes include automatic locking and free-wheeling front hubs which replace the manual locking hubs on the old model. The new range is distinguished by its restyled front grille, larger rear bumper incorporating the rear lights, and a repositioned spare wheel.
The line-up now consists of four models; short and longwheelbase charge-cooled hardtops — the 2.8TDS and 2.8TDL respectively — and two naturally aspirated diesels. These are the 2.8DS SWB hardtop and 2,8DP LWB pickup. The LWB naturally aspirated diesel hardtop has been dropped from the range.
Standard equipment includes remote-control door mirrors, a tachometer, heated rear window and rear wash/ wipe.
Prices start at £9,400 (exVAT) for the 2,8DS, ranging up to £10,599 (ex-VAT) for the 2.8TDL.
