Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following the CM story about the Tyron run-flat safety device in our March Light Vehicle News, a demonstration of the wheel-well fillers will take place at RAF Finningly near Doncaster on 20 May for dealers and commercial vehicle body builders.

In a recent demonstration of its product to Commercial Motor, Transport Security Systems of Brentford staged a blowout on an unloaded 3.5tonne gross weight '300' series Freight Rover Sherpa.

The vehicle belongs to the police, and is fitted with a 106kW Rover vee-eight petrol engine. When the tyre was blown at 96km/h (60mph), the Sherpa could pull up in a straight line perfectly under control, and then perform high speed manoeuvres on a perfectly flat tyre. Readers interested in attending the Doncaster demonstration should contact John Savage in London, on 01847 3107.
