• Abingdon-based RT Express has won a £7 million, five-year contract with paint manufacturer Akzo Coatings to supply a fleet of 55 vehicles and 16 trailers, together with drivers, full maintenance and administration services.
RT will distribute Akzo's paint products around the country using Mercedes Benzes supplied by Derwent Vehicles of Leeds.
RT says Mercedes vehicles were specified because the company finds them very reliable. In the next two months, RT will be putting 14 1317s and 12 1617s into service for the contract. In due course they will be joined by 10 811s, 23 1317s, 14 1617s and eight 1635 artics; with 16 tri-axle trailers.
