Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I REFER TO Graham Montgomerie's article {CM, February 14) Seddon Atkinson: Where Quality Counts.

The section of the article covering the Defence Standards is substantially incorrect. Defence Standards 05-21 is used for complex or critical items where the contractor is responsible for design, development, manufacture and, when appropriate, field trials.

Defence Standard 05-24 is called for when the design of the item is already established but conformity can only be adequately determined by inspection performed throughout all the manufacturing stages.

Defence Standard 05-29 is made a contract requirement when conformity to technical requirements can be satisfactorily determined and established by examination and tests conducted on the final article by qualified technical personnel.

Defence Standard 05-32 is the Quality Control Requirement for Test House and Laboratory Organisation. The Ministry of Defence Standard 05-32 is the Quality Control Requirement for Test House and Laboratory Organisation. The Ministry of Defence approval is now renewable everythree years.
