BORDERS Regional Council has decided to pay an additional subsidy of £128,000 to Eastern Scottish.
The council had previously agreed not to make the payment, which is a share of the difference between the company's profits figure set by the Government.
It had been made clear that if the council did not pay the subsidy fares would rise immediately by seven per cent.
