NORTH-EASTERN British Road Services Ltd has two new directors on its main board. Following the retirement of George Johnson as marketing director at the end of last year, Howard Cutler has now become personnel director and Alan Cook finance director. Mr Cutler has worked for Tube Investments Ltd in the Midlands, Rolls-Royce Ltd, The Wool Textile Council and Silentnight Ltd. He joined North-eastern BRS in 1974 as personnel manager. Alan Cook entered the motor industry as an accounts trainee and joined BRS as a management accountant with East Anglia District in 1968. On reorganisation in 1972, he transferred to the post of chief accountant with North-eastern BRS.
Meanwhile, Eastern BRS has named Andy Stewart as manager of the company's Beccles Branch. Mr Stewart joined BRS as assistant manager of the branch in May 1977, and was formerly office manager at the Norwich branch of National Carriers Ltd, TNT Overnite has opened a new depot in Hornsey, North London which is being run by Nick Wheeler who joined TNT three years ago as a traffic clerk at the company's Milton depot in Oxfordshire. He became the first ever TNT Overnite supervisor and last year became assistant to the company's national operations manager. Freightliners Ltd has appointed Charles Williams to its board of directors. Mr Williams is currently a partner of A. W. Logistics, the consultancy firm specialising in the transport and distibution field. Previously, he worked for Tate and Lyle Transport for more than 30 years.
Former Leyland Vehicles' chairman David Abell has joined the board of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, in succession to J. Bibby chairman, Leslie Young. Mr Abell heads Suter Electrical, the Lancashire company which has just acquired Prestcold from BL.
Aubrey Gardner has become road transport workshops manager for Arthur Guinness Son and Company, Park Royal. He was previously service manager for Volkswagen/Audi dealer, Martins of Basingstoke.
Joining Craven Tasker Sales Ltd as sales director for the company's South-eastern operation is Richard Anstey who will be responsbile for the full range of Craven Tasker products in the South-east and Home Counties. Based at Loughton, Essex, Mr Anstey rejoins the company from Xtra Leasing Services, having previously been employed. as container sales manager for Craven Tasker until he left in 1976.
King Trailers Ltd has reorganised its sales and marketing division and Clive Squire, formerly with Coles Cranes as general manager for market planning and development, joins King as marketing director. Derek Rigby takes over special responsibility for increasing overseas sales while Bob Cossins joins King from York Trailer, as export manager, Africa. Reg Field, previously area sales manager for southern England, now handles the Middle East.
Ratcliff Tail Lifts has recruited Philip Beale as sales representative for the Midlands area, based in Birmingham. Before joining Ratcliff, Mr Beale was a sales executive for Southern Transport Enterprise.
