Stanley Eaton has been appointed vehicle engineer for the transport. storage and distribution department of Lever Brothers and Associates Ltd. Mr. Eaton is responsible for the good order of some 300 vehicles. the combined commercial fleet of LB and A, Domestos and Lever Industrial Ltd.: he had been vehicle repair supervisor since 1960. Mr. Eaton is succeeded in charge of the company's repair depot at Bromborough by James Dryden, since 1965 controller of the Domestos sales unit transport.

Geoffrey Bishop has been appointed a consultant in the same unit, with special responsibilities for mechanical handling and warehousing. Mr. Bishop, who trained as a cost accountant, has been with BRS for a number of years.

Geoff Mousley, director and general manager of Morton's (BRS) Ltd.. Coventry. has withdrawn his resignation, the firm announced this week. Mr. Mousley had said last month that he would be leaving the company to work in the south of England: a change in personal circumstances has now made it possible for him to remain in his present post.

J. H. Whitcomb° has been appointed controller of transport for FMC Ltd. Mr. Whitcombe is also elected to the board of Blue Rosette (Transport) Ltd.. of which he has been general manager since July 1966.

W. Newey has been appointed sales director of Duple Group Sales Ltd. in succession to G. A. H. Payze who has retired due to ill health. J. Jennings has been appointed fleet sales manager, succeeding the late Mr. Robert Beechy Newman. Lord Rootes, chairman of Rootes Motors Ltd.. is Joining the British National Export Council.

D. Allison, until recently a shift engineer with Jamaica Omnibus Services Ltd., has been appointed area engineer. Hastings. with Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd.

D. L. Mason has been appointed BRS Parcels Ltd. branch manager. Eltham branch. Mr. Mason was formerly traffic assistant, Hackney branch.

David Willcox has been appointed fleet engineer with Midlands Storage (Transport Services) Ltd. Mr. Wilcox was previously a technical officer with the East Midlands area of the MoT.

M. A. Newman, safety and training officer to the Blox Group, has been appointed to the board of its subsidiary, Burn Transit Ltd.. as has S. E. Ayshford, transport manager to Burn Transit. Mr. Newman, who joined Blox in 1969. formed its commercial vehicle driver training school.

W. W. Paul has been appointed a general manager of Brown Brothers Ltd. and will continue to be responsible for the motor group of divisions. C. Biggs has also been appointed a general manager, in charge of the tyre, garage equipment and tool divisions. J. Gavin Masterton has been appointed an

assistant general manager (motor group divisions and tyre division) Mr. Masterton was formerly district manager at Croydon.

OBITUARY

We record with regret the deaths of J. Britain and John William C. Cross.

Mr. Britain, who was for 30 years Pateley Bridge depot supervisor for the West Yorkshire Road Car Co. Ltd., has died at the age of 67. He retired just over a year ago.

Mr. Cross. who recently died in hospital at High Wycombe, at the age of 69. joined the transport department of Associated British Foods Ltd. in 1946. and was transport executive from 1957 until his retirement in 1966. Mr. Cross retired in 1967 as a director of Wilsdon and Co. Ltd.. bodybuilder. of Solihull. Warwicks.

Merseyside PTA officials

• Ald. Harold Macdonald Steward, Leader of Liverpool City council, was appointed chairman of Merseyside PTA at its first meeting last week. He will receive a salary of £1.500. Ald. H. Platt, of Birkenhead council, was named as vice-chairman and the town clerk of Liverpool, Mr. S. Holmes, will be the secretary.

The post of director-general will be advertised with a salary of £8,000 to £10,000. It was also announced that the Minister of Transport, would be meeting the Merseyside authority on May 30.
