Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Three-section mud wings of semi-rigid plastics material, known as Featherwing, are being produced by Boydell and Jacks Ltd. The centre section can be cut to the length required by the operator to suit the axle centres of a tandem-axle vehicle and to provide for a preferred wheel clearance. If a number of mud wings is held in stock, this versatility reduces the capital outlay.

A pair of double mud wings weighs under 30Ib whereas a pair of comparable steel wings comes to around 90/120Ib. The plastics material is claimed to be non-corrosive, have good impact properties (even in freezing conditions), and resist a wide range of chemicals. The wings are produced in black full-gloss finish, the black pigment being highly resistant to ultra-violet radiation whether or not the wings are painted.

Made by: Boydell and Jacks Ltd., 77 Union Road, Bolton, Lancs.

Price: £22 per pair.
