Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DI IL EXEL is negotiating with the new owners of Kwik Save to minimise job losses after 171 stores were sold off by its parent, Somerfield.

A DHL Exel spokeswoman explains there is uncertainty over the future of 950 jobs at the RDC in Sherhurn in Elmet, West Yorkshire now that BTTF has bought the Kwik Save network. The Yorkshire depot serves 250 stores in northern England.

The spokeswoman warns that redundancies are a possibility hut adds: "It's a bit too early to say. We're negotiating with the new owners to secure business with the stores, which we think they are keen to do.

"We're now in consultation with all our employees, trade unions and other bodies to keep them constantly informed on the progress of these negotiations and the likely impact on the site."

It is thought that Somerfield lost millions of pounds at unprofitable Kwik Save outlets before deciding to sell them. BITE was set up specifically to take them on.

As CM went to press, rumours were circulating over potential redundancies at Kwik Save's Wellingborough depot.
