in a bid to expand into Europe. The Chelford, Cheshirebased haulier has bought 10 Scania tractive units and 15 trailers for James him & Sons International which will run alongside its UK operation.
The 140-vehicle company specialises in food and drink haulage for several blue-chip manufacturers, including CocaCola Corporation and Pepsi for Britvic Soft Drinks.
Managing director David Ham says the firm was repeatedly asked by clients to run into Europe.
Irlam employs more than 200 staff and recently opened a 40truck depot in Normanton, West Yorkshire. It has also won a contract to distribute Pedigree pet foods out of Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
