• Waste removal hauliers face having to register their trucks by the end of the year as part of a new crackdown on fly-tippers.
Joan Ruddock, the Shadow Transport Minister, secured an unopposed second reading for her Control of Pollution (Amendments) Bill last week, which would require waste carriers to register — and allow the authorities to inspect — their loads and impound vehicles.
