tested in the courts following the issuing of a writ by one of the drivers involved in the M4 coach crash in September 1987.

Coach driver David Knight of Conway Road. South Tottenham, London, claims his driving days are over as a result of his injuries. He is claiming damages from Maison Caurette of Fitzhardinge Street, London Wl, the employer of truck driver Robert Moxon. Moxon died of injuries sustained in the crash, on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 2 and 3.

The writ states that Knight was driving his Daf coach in the same direction as Moxon's truck when there was a "violent" collision which caused Knight's coach to cross the central reservation where it was in collision with a coach going in the opposite direction.

Knight claims that his neck is now "acutely vulnerable" and that any further injury could result in "severe damage" to his spinal cord. The writ claims that Moxon caused the accident by negligent driving in the course of his employment.

• Warringtonbased T&T Thompson Transport has been granted five additional vehicles and trailers with mt any environmental restrictions at a public inquiry by North Western Deputy LA John Levin.
