Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I READ the letter from Mr Hardie (CM, February 9) about Volvo outmatching Multipart and other competition regarding VOR parts supply.

May I say we have the position where Volvo produces trucks in Britain with Swedish technology and puts rival British manufacturers at a disadvantage. I think Volvo has succeeded to a great extent only at the expense of the British taxpayer. If one wants to praise how good foreign truck competition is, I would suggest that Daimler-Benz is the most aggressive and successful marketing truck company in the world.

Their truck engineering is as meticulous as they advertise. Daimler-Benz will go from strength to strength increasing their percentage on the British truck market while others will deteriorate. No other truck manufacturer is in the same class.

Hats off to Daimler-Benz and praise all round in their profound efficiency. CHRISTOPHER EVANS Droylsden Tameside Greater Manchester
