THE JOB of sales and marketing director, Leyland Trucks, has been filled by GAVIN BARLAS. It was vacated after CHRIS WOODWARK became the managing director of Land Rover-Leyland International (CM, February 23).

Mr Barlas joined BL's corporate finance department in 1971, but has spent much of his career with the group overseas. In 1975, after a period as sales and marketing director at Leyland Parts, he was appointed African sales executive, two years later he became managing director of Rover Zambia, transferring in 1982 to the same post at Leyland Zimbabwe.

Two join ranks of roads committee

SACTRA, the Government's Standing Advisory Committee on Trunk Road Assessment chaired by Professor Tom Williams of Southampton University, has two new members. They are Edward Naylor, who is the county surveyor of Greater Manchester, and Adrian Stungo, planning officer of the London Borough of Bromley.

Mr Naylor, who is also county engineer to the Greater Metropolitan County Council, was executive director of traffic and transportation with West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council.

Mr Stungo, Bromley's assistant chief executive/head of land resources, has been an adviser to the Planning and Transport Committee of the Association of Metropolitan Authorities.

SACTRA, which was reconstituted in July last year, was set up to advise the Transport Secretary on the assessment of road improvements in urban areas.
