NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has provided a 12-seater Ford Transit minibus for the county's fourth community minibus scheme. The vehicle will serve the villages of Gayton and Tiffield and provide regular links to Northampton, Milton Keynes and Towcester.
The service is being run by a team of six volunteers elected during a public meeting held in November. A team of volunteer drivers has also been recruited.
National Bus Company subsidiary United Counties is to maintain the Transit on behalf of the committee. The County Council provided both financial and administrative support for the scheme but it expects a large proportion of the vehicle's cost to be repaid from fare revenue during the next four years.
