York sales up
YORK Trailer Holdings Ltd's sales in the first quarter of 1978 are ahead of last year's record.
The company records sales of £9.01m (£7.82m over the same period last year) and net profits of £247,000 (036,000 last year).
York has experienced export problems due to temporary exchange controls, mainly in Africa. It says that plants are working below capacity, but anticipates that there will soon be an improvement.
Chrysler scheme
CHRYSLER has extended its MOPAR exchange engine scheme to cover one for the PB Spacevan, six for the Avenger and five for Hunters.
All exchange units are backed by full Chrysler warranty.
New ro-ro service
TOWNSEND Thoresen has introduced a new summer roro service between Portsmouth and Cherbourg.
The 3,671-ton Viking Victory, which has room for 300 metres of freight, will undertake two return voyages daily until September 10. There will be capacity for most types of wheeled traffic, and driver facilities include full catering and free cabin accommodation.
More profits
THOMAS Nationwide Transport profits have increased by three per cent at A$12.50m, against A$12.12m, on turnover up 12 per cent at A$384m for the nine months to March 31. Earnings per stock unit were 16.9 cents, against 16.8 Cents.
The result, announced in Sydney, includes extraordinary items of A$3.48m, against A$388,000, which take into account a gain of A$3.56m from the sale of shares in Ansett Transport Industries.
