Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

°ERATING on the air-over-hydraulic principle, a powered landing gear known as Power Gear has been developed by Highway Trailers (Great Britain) Ltd. It can be fitted to any semi-trailer equipped with air brakes, use being made of air from the emergency line.

It is claimed that the system reduces the time required to raise or lower a laden trailer to one fifth of that required when manuallycranked legs are employed. Weighing only 328 lb. Power Gear legs have a lifting capacity of 50,000 lb. and operate at an hydraulic pressure of 2,500 p.s.i., the air pressure being 70 p.s.i.

A three-lever control box, mounted on the nearside of the trailer operates a master valve for raising and lowering the legs, a levelling valve for independent adjustment of the legs on uneven ground and a booster valve for taking the load off the fifth wheel.

Made by: Highway Trailers (Great Britain) Ltd., Southampton Airport, Southampton, Hants.

Price: £208 14s.
