THE SMMT has extended its proposed scheme for the ready identification of matched tractive units and semi-trailers, The original draft data sheets dealt with 30-ton-gross (category 30A) and 28-ton-gross (category 28A) outfits, both consisting of two-axle tractive units and tandemaxle semi-trailers.
New categories are 26A and 24A for twoaxle tractive units and tandem-axle semi-trailers for 26 and 24 tons gross respectively; 22A for two-axle tractive units and single-axle semitrailers of 22 tons gross; and 24B for two-axle tractive units and single-axle semi-trailers for 24 tons gross. Operators' organizations have been asked for comments.
