Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

COMMER 8-tonner models converted to twin

steer chassis by Primrose Third Axle Co. Ltd. are now being plated for 18 tons gross provided that an Eaton 18802 axle and appropriate tyre equipment are incorporated.

The Primrose twin-steer model is not a Commer-approved conversion but the uprating has been made possible by Commer increasing from 9 to 10 tons the load permitted on the Eaton axle used on the 8-tonner.

An important point is that although not designed for the maximum gross weight legally possible on three axles at which plating would be required, the Primrose 18-ton gross twin-steer has to be plated in order to take advantage of the higher axle weight; this also makes it necessary for 50 per cent service and 25 per cent secondary brake efficiencies to be met.

Aeon hollow-rubber helper springs are added to the rear suspension of the twin-steer.
