Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A THOUSAND mail vans like this are being

built for the Swedish Post Office by the Swedish company Kalmar Verkstads Ab. They are equipped with a DAF engine and Variomatic automatic belt transmission as fitted to the DAF 44 car, produced by Van Doorne of Eindhoven, Holland.

The all-plastics body was designed by KVAB in co-operation with technicians of the Swedish Post Office to provide ease of entry combined with all-round vision for the driver. In extended tests over two years 10 prototypes of the van jointly made about 50 million stops, which demonstrated the great value of the transmission for stop-start work as well as its reliability.

It is claimed that the self-locking differential characteristic of the transmission was particularly advantageous when the test vehicles were negotiating icy or snow-covered roads.
