Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

B y lain Sherriff Fwehad "rigged" the LDOY results at the Edinburgh round last Sunday they could we have been more appropriate to this special CM public utilities number than those actually produced by the competitors. Of the 27 awards, 15 went to public utilities (including British Railways in this category).

The shape of things to come began at Class A when the GPO took first and third place. A. C. Forsyth, last year's winner, will again appear at Bramcote. In Class B the honours went to a C-Licence operator, David C. Weir, whose driver, W. McGreavy, romped home 95 points ahead of the second man.

At all eliminators there are silly penalty points collected and for different reasons. It was worse at Edinburgh: one British Railways driver who had travelled 60 miles from Kilmarnock was disqualified because he had brought no driving licence.

• Eliminating rounds of the LDOY competition being at Belfast, Coventry and Newcastleupon-Tyne this week-end will be reported in next week's issue of COMMERCIAL MOTOR.

DON SAFETY AWARD FOR VAUXHALL

THE Small and Parkes Ltd. Don Safety Award for the manufacturer who made the greatest contribution to road safety last year was presented to Vauxhall Motors in London on Tuesday by Mr. Peter Walker, Conservative Party spokesman on transport.

The award, received by Vauxhall Sales director Mr. G. C. Welby, was for incorporating a Clayton Dewandre load-sensing valve in the Bedford KM tractive unit.
