"Fl VIDENCE that the mobile show stand and mobile showroom are now well established as practical commeroial propositions, is borne out by the steady increase in their number. For agricultural shows in particular, the mobile show stand can claim several advantages, the most important of which are that it can be made selfcontained, and that it can be erected or dismantled in no more than two hours.

The exhibitor can thus cover a large number of shows each year for one initial outlay, plus the cost of maintenance. He is, too, assured that his stand• will be erected and complete at a Axed hour on a given day, which cannot always be said of the contractor-built show stand.

One of the latest industrial undertakings to become interested in this idea is the British Oxygen Co., Ltd., North Circular Road, Cricklewood, London. N.W.2. For this company, E W. Campion and Sons, Ltd., Braunstone Gate, Leicester, has built a mobile display unit in which has been incorporated a number of provisionally protected features.

The steel basic structure, which, of course, is built on to the vehicle, is designed to take the weight imposed upon it by the awnings, which are supported on tubular outriggers. These tubular members fit into sockets which reeister with the steel interior structure.

A bayonet-catch fixing makes for quick assembly and dismantling. The fascia above the awnings is bolted to facings on the outer ends of the tubular

extrusions alsoretain the sections during transit and prevent their chafing. A similar extrusion is used to give the appearance of continuity to the body panels.

It takes about two hours to erect the display stand, which says much for the attention given to the mode of stowage

and to . the general design. Fully extended the stand measures 24 ft. 6 ins. by 23 ft. 6 ins., the height to the top of the flagstaff being 26 ft. 6 ins.

Included in the equipment which the operator is able to demonstrate are a 36-in, universal cutting machine and acetylene flame de-rusting equipment, together with a full range of gas welding pipes and accessories.

The basis of the outfit is a Commer 5-tonner with underfloor engine. To take the low, rear platform on which the cutting machine is mounted, the rear end of the chassis was extended by 4 ft.

Hoover, Ltd., Perivale, Grecnford, Middlesex, is another big industrial undertaking to apprecate the value of the mobile showroom or exhibition. In this case two caravan trailers are used, the towing vehicles being Fordson 2-ton lorries.

When in position at an agricultural show or elsewhere, the caravans are arranged in V formation, the one on the left being used to demonstrate electric washing machines, and the one on the right, electric vacuum cleaners. Bridging the V is a display of fractionalhorse-power motors, and in front of this display a film unit is arranged. The display and demonstration space covers about 1,500 sq. ft.

• Mains electricity and water supplies are relied upon, buf the unit provides its dwn hot water, a drainage system, drying cabinets, office, dressing room and other necessary services.

Not only will this outfit be used as a show stand, but the opemter proposes to take it into rural areas where demonstrations will be given of carpet cleaning and clothes washing by means of Hoover electrical equipment.
