Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

for some years, been used with success in gearboxes of both goods and passenger vehicles is the Simms, a product of Simms Motor Units, Ltd., Oak Lane, East Finchley, London, N.2. The principle is, obviously, adaptable to the filtration of the finer metal particles which, normally, are carried over in cutting oils and coolants and in this capacity the Simms unit is used extensively.

It is of extreme simplicity, consisting as it does of a powerful permanent magnet. or s&ies of magnets, arranged

in a base plug-. Wherever possible, the type designated A7999 is recommended, as it has a stronger magnetic field than other models. The magnet proper is surrounded by a mild-steel helical sleeve.

_ After being in use for a period, removal of the filter will show how the foreign metallic particles have been attracted to the magnet, which can readily be freed of them by sliding off the . sleeve. As the latter becomes demagnetized, the accumulated particles can be washed off. It is a type of filter which requires no other attention.
