MR. J. MACKLE, superintendent of the coachbuilding and bus department of Belfast transport undertaking, has been appointed to the position of rolling-stock engineer, with effect from August I next.

MR, P. DE PUTRON, assistant to Mr. Cockshutt, manager of Leyland Motors (South Africa), Ltd., has returned to England on leave, after having spent four years in South Africa. He is in close touch with the Leyland headquarters in Lancashire.

MR. G. R. SHARPLEY, managing director of Ruston and Hornsby, Ltd., has been elected chairman of the company, to succeed the late Col. J. S. Ruston. He joined the company in 1888 and has visited many parts of the world on its behalf. In 1895 he was appointed works manager and in 1912 was elected to a seat on the board of directors. Since 1921 he has held the post of managing director, and he will continue to act as chairman and managing director.
