first quarter of 1987, according to the latest Government figures. Amongst rigid vehicles, traffic for two, three and four-axle trucks increased by 4% 14% and 8% respectively. There was a fall in the number of three axle artic units by 6%. Five axle artic traffic, however, continues to rise sharply.
