Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Robin Hood Vehicle Builders of Fareham, Hants, has extended the range of midibus models it builds on the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz T2 high-roof van with a new model based on the 7.5-tonne GVW turbocharged 811D. The company is also working on a fully coachbuilt version based on the 811D chassis cab.

The 811D midi can be fitted with up to 25 seats and is available in a variety of specifications from welfare up to full luxury coach. The coach version features tinted glazing, full soft interior trim, luggage racks and moquette fitted along the ceiling. Other standard equipment includes under-seat heating but a combustion-type heater can also be fitted.

Typical seating layout on a 19-seater is two-plus-one; above 19 seats Robin Hood fits two-plus-two on either side of the centre aisle.

Robin Hood expects the 811D, which is powered by the 85kW (114hp) four-cylinder 0M364A turbocharged diesel, to appeal to rhiclibus operators looking for good motorway and long distance performance.

The 811D midi conversion includes modifications to the front steps and entrance to provide easier passenger loading and to comply with PSV regulations. The van's rear doors are replaced with a fixed coachbuift rear panel with a full-width window, and drop. well luggage bay.

The van's standard left hand door is used for the emergency exit at the rear offside of the vehicle. A front slider-type door can also be specified.

Building time for a 811D midi coach is around five weeks. Prices are about £33,000 depending on final operator specification.

The first operator to buy 811D midis is Wings Luxury Travel of Hayes near Heathrow, which has taken delivery of three and ordered two more. Wings' luxury 23seaters will be used throughout the country, covering around 100,000km a year.
