Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SELECTIVE vehicle detection bus priority is being introduced in London Transport's Selkent operating area of South East London.

Early next year the Greater London Council will fit electronic equipment to 60 sets of traffic lights which will pick a command to accelerate the light sequence to green as a bus approaches.

The scheme is a result of a successful year-long experiment carried out in Hounslow in West London and the GLC hopes that it will reduce delay to buses at junctions by up to 35 per cent.

Plans exist to extend the scheme throughout London at a later stage. The Selkent scheme will cost around £500,000 and is expected to be in operation next year.
