At present, some traffic reas, such as the South-East emend at least 6 or 9 months' ill-time driving during the previous three years before they will renew. At present they insist that the employer puts down the periods of employment before signing the form. "We would not be fulfilling our duty to protect the public if we did not," said a spokesman.

How long?

An Eastern area spokesman said that they asked a driver how long he had been employed, and whether he was• full or part time. The main demand •before renewing •the licence was a "yes" answer by the driver to the question: "Have you been employed driving the last three years as a coach driver?"

The Metropolitan Traffic Area said it was up to the employers whether they disclosed that a driver was full or part time. "As long as the applicant shows evidence of employment we are prepared to renew," he said.
