• The Belfast firm of Walter Alexander and Co (Belfast) Ltd has been awarded a £130,000 contract by Belfast transport committee for 20 double-deck bus bodies designed for one-man operation. The 33ft front entrance and central exit bodies will be mounted on Daimler Fleetline chassis, and will incorporate staircases located on the nearside, immediately ahead of the exit. The new buses will be similar in design to 50 new buses delivered this year, the new contract is subject to the approval of the city council.
