• Figures issued by the Department of Trade and Industry this week show that during May production of commercial vehicles in the UK totalled 44,794 units compared with 39,165 in April and 41,542 in April 1970. Average weekly output in May was 11,199 as against 9791 in the previous month, 8 per cent higher than the 10,386 units in May 1970.

Production for home use rose from 22,147 in April to 26,295. Export production was 18,500-17,018 in April and 17.048 in May last year.
