Portable Pressure-test Set A PORTABLE pres r sure-test set for hydraulic systems has

been-introduced by industrial Hydraulics Ltd. The set is based on the robust P003 pressure gauge and is claimed by the makers to be ideal for use by the service engineer in the field.

Two gauges are provided, lowand high-pressure: both are connected tc.,a •Length of high-pressure hose. When the set is cornice:Led to a system, both main and by-pass pressures can be read without altering the connections. This is possible with the type P003 gauge—even those •rated for low-pressure readings can withstand a. total pressure ofmore than 12,000 psi.

A number of different sized pipe fittings and seals is provided to 'deal With general conditions likely to be,: met with ,in field servicing. An extra length of hose and a needle tap are also

supplied. The double-ended unions and ' redueine hushes provided in the Standard set can be varied to meet individual requirements (for example, a Set of dry-seal taper unions can be supplied) and a special set can be made up to suit the hydraulic circuit to he tested.

Pressure-tested sets with three gauges,

giving low-, intermediateand highpressure ranges are alsoavailable.

-Light Grease Gun THE Calibre 10, a light, well-balanced grease gun designed for single-handed operation. is now available from Ch.. J. Neuman Ltd. This features a new pressure-releasc. valve in the rigid extension to give a fast, clean release of the ncetzle from nipples under high pressure. By opening this valve the gun can he removed easily from the grease nipple with-little effort.

The Calibre 10, which has a side-lever action, weighs approximately 14 oz. when loaded with a. cartridge. It is supplied with a rigid 6-in, extension and a long, snap-on_eonnection. The body and head have a hard4earinge silver hammer finish 'which is rustproof and easily cleaned. The head also has a new airlock release to.clear air trapped in the _grease.

.This.gun'is supplied with two grease cartridges—replacements are available in motor accessory shops and garages. at 2s. 6d. each. Each cartridge contains 3-1 oz. of specially. prepared Nubrol grease, which contains lithium and molybdenum disulphide.

Inexpensive Radio THE first British-made vehicle radio to be marketed for Less

than £10 is now available from Associated Merchandising. This new radio, the Supersound, was developed and is being • built by Geupther Industrial Developments Ltd. It is supplied complete with, speaker, baffle and fixing kit: after-sales servicing is to be handled by the distributors.

The Supersound measures 7 in. by 4 in by 2 in. and has an illuminated dial. Good selectivity foeleading stations on both long and medium wave bands is claimed. The onforl switch also operates the volume control with 3W output for maximum performance. Other features include six transistors for !ow battery drain, one diode. 12V positive earth and a permeable tuner with extra-sensitivity high-gain coils. The Supersound is claimed to be very easy to install.

As this new radio will have particular appeal for commercial vehicle drivers, arrangements are being made for a set to be tested by The Commercial Motor and a report of this will appear in a later issue.

New Version of Steering Lock.

A SPECIALLY DESIGNED version of the Wa.so commerf‘cial steering lock is now available as a special .optional extra on the new Ford D-series.range. It is available at a price of .1:10 (inclusive of fitting) only if the lock is commissioned when a vehicle is ordered through a Ford dealer.

The locks have a Multi-position switch for switching on and off electrical services or ignition and, against spring presshre, the starter-motor solenoid. The removal of the key in the " lock " position automatically immobilizes the vehicle.

These locks are also available as optional extras on several other makes of vehicle when ordered at the same time as the vehicle.

Iodine-bulb Light Units FOUR-HEADLAMP 2V systems with iodine-bulb light units can now be supplied by Britover (Continental) Dd., sole concessionnaires in this country for Cibie vehicle lighting equipment. •

The inner pair of lamps provides the main beam,the miters' being permanently dipped. Wiring can be arranged so that on selecting main beams all four units are switched on.

These units are designed as direct replacement for the standard 24 V 51in. lamps fitted to British commercial vehicles and coaches. The distributors state that .deliveries could start within six to eight weeks..
