A. 1 Dobson, of Chorley, Lancs. He states that in early 1959 his employers purchased four new Leyland Tiger Cubs. After approximately 18 months' service all of these machines had to have replacement generators due to rear bearing failure, caused by mud and water. running down the rear end plate and entering the hearing.
Mr. Dobson fitted a cover {see illustralion) to each machine, overhanging approximately 6 in. from the end of the generator over the coupling and shaft. 'Since this work was done no further [rouble of this nature has been experienced.
Comments liandymmi: In my view Mr. Dobson has put his finger on a sore point. Once upon a time generators had shields to guard against both fuel and water. This idea is good and necessary.
