Goods Chassis of Capacities from 15 cwt. to 6 tons. Modernized Appearance, Sturdier Frames and Better

Load Distributicn

MINE new mode4 are announced by 1 the International Harvester Co., of Great Britain, Ltd., 259, City Road, London, E.C.1. The range includes goods chassis from 15 cwt. to 6 tons in pay-load capacities, certain of the models being available in a choice of wheelbase lengths.

A glance at the accompanying pictures shows that the new Internationals have been much improved in appearance, the radiator, bonnet and cab--indeed, the whole of the front-having been brought into line with advanced ideas. The pointed grille, deeply domed wings, brought low at their front ends, high bonnet, sloping V-shaped windscreen and streamline head and sidelamps combine to attract attention and please the eye.

Less noticeable but, nevertheless, of importance, is the "pushed-back" front axle. By means of this alteration, an improvement in the distribution of weight has been effected.

In general make-up and layout the chassis follow the design of their forerunners, but the frames and springs are stiffer than in the past, whilst all the models from the 3-tonner Upwards have more powerful engines.

Considering the models individually, from the smallest of the range, the 15-cwt. chassis, designated D2, is available with wheelbase dimensions of 113 ins. and 125 ins. In these two forms it costs E190 and £198 respectively'. The power unit is a six-cylindered 26.3 h.p. petrol engine, developing 78.2 b.h.p. at 3,400 r.p.m. This model replaces the earlier Cl.

Closely resembling it, and offered at the same prices, the D5 differs in having a four-cylindered unit, rated at 10.8 -h.p. and developing, at 2,800 r.p.m., 33 b.h.p.

Next comes model D15, which replaces the earlier G15. Pt is a 25-cwt. machine available only with a 130-in. wheelbase, and has the same engine as the 1)2. Its price is £235.

Of 3 tons capacity is the D30, which is built in three wheelbase lengths, 128 ins., 155 ins, and 173 ins., costing, respectively, £295, £315 and £335. This replaces the C30 3-tonner and, as mentioned earlier, has a bigger power unit. Developing 81 b.h.p. at 3,200 r.p.m., this is rated at 26.3 h.p., the same as the D2; the stroke, however, is longer. The model has 32 by 6 heavy-duty tyres with twins at the rear.

With the short and mean wheelbase, this chassis, designated DS30, is also available with a two-speed rear axle. in : which form its prices are £340 (128 ins.) and £360 (155 ins ).

The previous International 3-toner

has been raised in capacity to 4 tons and is called model D35 ; 137in., 149-in.: 161-in. and 179-in. wheelbases are listed, the prices for these chassis being respectively £380, £395, '2415 and £4l.15. A 27.3 h.p. engine

uSed, the maximum power generated being 84 b.h.p. at 3,200 r.p.rn.

For 5-ton loads there is model 1)40, which supersedes the C40 4-5-tonner The unit installed develops 89.1 at 3,200 r.p.m. ; its rating is 29.4 h.p. Three wheelbases are available here, 134 ins., 146 ins. and 176 ins., and the respective prices are £475, £480 and £495. This model has five speeds and 34 by 7 tyres.

intended primarily for use as the tractive unit of an articulated outfit, the eighth model, which is entirely new is rated as a 6-tonner and designated D50. It is a short-wheelbase machine (137 ins.) and with 34 by 7 tyres costs £685. Of 33.7 h.p. its engine at 2,800 r.p.m. develops 93.7 b.h.p.

Finally, 'there is the D300 3-tonner. We understand that this model will not be ready for delivery for some weeks. It is the only forward-control chassis of the, range, and will be of special interest in view of the fact that the driver's seat is arranged over the engine. With the same power unit as the 1)30 it will cost 2375 with a 99-in, wheelbase and 2390 with a 117-in. wheelbase.

All the above prices refer to the chassis alone. An extra £40 is charged for thecab. This is a wellbuilt all-steel structure, of similar design for all models and, therefore, interchangeable. It is well appointed and its 'equipment includes a screw. operated opening windscreen and a scuttle ventilator.
