CRANLEIGH FREIGHT Services MD Graham Young said its new Euro-6 Daf XFs are more fuel efficient than the Euro-5 Mercedes-Benz Actros units they replace. The trucks, the first three of 18 ordered, went on the road late last year and were bought following a year-long trial.
Sales and marketing manager Becky Young said the decision to put the first three units into operation ahead of the January deadline was down to their reliability and image. "We need trucks that are reliable while being economical to run, and image is very important to us. The Daf XFs are helping us to score on all these points."
All 18 trucks are two-axle FT low-deck left-hookers, plated at 40-tonne GVW and intended for use with high-cube trailers. They have Super Space Cabs and are powered by 12.9-litre MX-13 engines with 12-speed AS-Tronic automated transmissions.
The remaining units will be delivered before 1 April and the total investment was £1.5m.
