AS CMwent to press, The Pallet Network (TPN) was due to open its new 367500ft2hub today (2 January) at Prologis Park Midpoint in Minworth, near Birmingham
The hub is 50,000ft2 bigger than the network's previous hub, which is located next door on the park. It will have capacity to handle in excess of 20,000 pallets a day, which will be subject to final operational configuration. However, the most notable improvement of the new facility, which is set on a 21-acre site, is the extra space it will provide for
LGV parking. "We'll have the ability to load and re-load 32 trailers at any time, and we have parking for more than 200 trailers in the site," said TPN MD Adam Leonard.
"It has been exciting to see the site develop and we are proud to provide the network with a best-in-class facility."
Construction on the project only began in April last year.
TPN's old hub, which is still handling just over 11,000 pallets a night, is being handed back to the developers as part of the deal for the new hub.
