SCANIA DEALER TruckEast has picked up an eight-year contract to maintain 18 narrowtrack refuse collection trucks for Specialist Fleet Services (SFS).
Northampton-based SFS is a main supplier of vehicles to Kier Services, which provides domestic waste services for the Borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.
Bob Scarfe, SFS fleet director, said: "TruckEast has a strong local presence and a reputation for providing a high quality service.
"We therefore believe that we have chosen a maintenance partner who can be relied upon to deliver upon the commitments we have made to Kier and, in turn, the Borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk."
TruckEast's King's Lynn depot will service and maintain the Dennis chassis-cabs, Olympus refuse bodies and Terberg lifting equipment. It picked up the contract following a competitive tendering process. Over the last five years,
TruckEast King's Lynn has established itself as a centre of excellence for municipal vehicles, according to TruckEast regional general manager Harley Coulson.
"The SFS contract is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved at the King's Lynn depot," he said. "The technicians are experts in this type of vehicle, and this contract enables us to deliver a thorough service for the customer."
TruckEast King's Lynn will provide full annual body servicing; six-monthly LOLER tests and weight testing on the lifters, as well as 24-hour support, including a breakdown service for the vehicles and bodies.
