Fareham-based Dave Jackson (right), broke his back when his 23tonner tOpeci over on a return journey from Spain (CM 15-21 February). Since then he has been recovering at home while waiting for French investigators to find out what caused the accident. So far evidence has been inconclusive but further investiga hens are to take place. More than 10 months after the accident Jackson still hasn't recovered full mobility and doctors now say it is unlikely he ever will.

"I can't sit in the same position for more than 20 minutes and on bad days can't even get out of bed," he says. Jackson adds that he would still like to work in transport but has ruled out ever returning to full-time driving.
