CM's 1982 editorial plan is to continue to assist the various sectors of the industry to meet the changing circumstances of industrial life today. We are resolved to bring to our readers all of the aids to efficiency which we can find.

We will continue to search out success stories — yes, there are some around! One man's pattern for success can be adopted by others.

It it also our intention to try to unite the industry in its endeavours to improve its public image and be properly recompensed for its services.

Our editorial content will be objective, accurate and, hopefully, never misleading. We are proud of our reputation — it has been built up over 76 years and we will guard it well in 1982. CM is its own success story.

We are convinced that within 12 months the economic scene will be less black. Even a light grey would be rewarding, but that will only come by dedication and innovation.

Road transport has the most vital physical role to play in our economic recovery. The industry does not lack men of the right calibre to ensure success. It is the fragmented state of the industry which is at the root of the problem.

In time of national emergency the Minister of Transport would surely establish a Transport Co-ordinating Committee. We suggest to David Howell that we are in an emergency state now.
