In.A WAGE increase of 6s. per week to some 2,000 adult lorry drivers -and mates in Northern Ireland has been proposed by the Road Haulage Wages Council. It is subject to confirmation after the lapse of the statutory period of 21 days from December 12 to allow for objection.
The workers concerned are members of the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union. A different wage scale operates in three areas in the Province and the new rate in Belfast will ranee from £7 13s. to £8 16s., according to the carrying capacity of the vehicle.
