Transport Federation, led by Mr. J. M. Birch, was received by Mr. F. J. Erroll, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, on Tuesday.
As forecast in The Commercial Motor on December 19, the Federation pointed out the discouraging effects on investment of the 30 per cent, purchase tax on goodsvehicle chassis and they added that a reduction in fuel tax could play an important part in maintaining many rural and other bus services.
