• Glenda Jackson, labour MP for Hampstead and Highgate, has spoken out against Government plans to end the London Lorry Ban. In next week's issue of CM she will defend the ban, which came into force in 1986, saying it "literally transformed the lives of millions of Londoners". Jackson warns that its demise will extend truck noise and vibration into the night. She adds that the scheme employs only five inspectors and works efficiently. Glenda Jackson will be Sounding Off about the London Lorry Bon in our next issue, dated 9-15 February.
