THE British Internal Combustion Engine Manufacturers' Association will be wound up by the end of its financial year on March 31, 1986.
The association is to become amalgamated with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, combining with its engine trade section.
Perkins Engines managing director John Devaney is chairman of the engine trades section and Bicema's chief executive, Peter Hammersley, moved to SMMT headquarters in London on February 1.
The work on technical matters formerly undertaken by Bicema is being transferred to the SMMT's technical department and Bicema members will automatically become SMMT members.
