• From July 1 the fitting and use of non-metallic fuel tanks will be permitted for vehicles other than motorcycles.
Announcing this in the Commons, Mr. John Peyton, the Minister for Transport Industries, said that the tanks would have to meet the conditions prescribed in the EEC directive (70/221) on fuel tanks.
